British Army Surplus Clothing Guide

The clothes sold at the army surplus store are uniforms of the British soldiers. The uniform has several grades which determine the unit that will wear it. There are fourteen orders of uniforms that are used for different occasions. The full uniform is usually worn on important occasion. Though there are 15 grades, most of the uniforms are seldom worn together. The uniforms for the units have different appearance.

Full dress uniforms are assigned to the Regular Amy Bands. Before the full uniforms are issued to the soldiers, they are being assessed by the Defence Clothing Integrated Project Team (DC IPT) and Army Dress Committee. Each army regiment has their own uniform style so that the public can easily distinguish the units which they belong to. The full uniform has both traditional and modern characteristics. Full uniforms are often worn by the performing soldiers in a marching parade. The marching parade is usually attended by the members in the British royal family. The members at the Household Division are also required to wear full uniforms while attending the Lord Mayor’s procession.

British Army Combat Dress

Most of the army clothing comes from the combat dress. The important components of the combat dress consist of the hat, jacket and trousers. There are many types of British army combat dress including Desert combat dress, warm weather uniform, warm weather barrack dress, temperate combat dress, tropical combat dress, temperate mess dress, warm weather mess dress, protective clothing, temperate barrack dress, shirt sleeve order and blue patrols.

The desert combat dress is specifically made for the soldiers that are issued to the Cyprus and Middle East. The uniform is the same as the No. 9 DPM tropical uniform with a little difference. The dessert combat dress has a two tone DPM camouflage. The color of the DPM camouflage is lighter camouflage tone than the temperate combat dress. In the past, the desert combat dress is called No.5 dress during the Second World War. Later, the authorities replace it with the No. 2 Service Dress. Modern desert combat dress is worn by soldiers who guard the barracks and in marching parade.

The British army windproof smock is made from Gabardine material. Garbardine is lightweight cotton which can dry very quickly. It has 4 large pockets with fold over tops. On the left sleeves, there is a pen pocket with no loose taped buttons. The adjustable tab cuffs can transform into full size sleeves. The waist draw cord tightened the smock and offers windproof protection. It has an attached hood cover with draw cord. The dual layer fabric provides a thermal insulation for the wearer. British Army Soldier-95 Desert Combat Trousers

The British Army Soldier-95 desert combat trousers have two large pockets at the bottom. The large pockets is suitable for holding objects such as map. There is a square pocket with button flap on both sides. The waist cord allows you to adjust the tightness of the trousers. If the trousers is loose, you can pull the waist cord and tightened the trousers so that it will not fall off. It is equipped with a heavy duty zipper to secure the groin of the wearer. The buttons on the Soldier-95 desert combat trousers imitated the style of the Canadian button. This army surplus desert combat trousers features a dual tone DPM camouflage design.

The British Army Soldier-95 DPM Combat Trousers has two large below leg pockets. The waist cords allows you to adjust the tightness of the trousers on both sides. It is made from a combination of polyester and cotton. It uses the toggle buttons and YKK zippers for fastening the trousers. There is a 50mm belt loops for soldiers to wear the belt. The British Army Soldier 95 DPM Camo Field Shirt has a multi tone DPM pattern. It is part of the new issue of the CS95 army clothing. It is made from a mix of polyester and cotton material. Due to the fact that it is lightweight, it has been used as part of summer wear for the soldiers fighting in the British armed forces.

British Army Norwegian Shirt

The British Army Norwegian Shirt has a solid olive green color. It is made from 100% cotton and has a zipped polo neck collar. Recently, the Military unit has replaced the DPM 8 and 9 dress with the Combat Soldier 95 (CS95) system. The Army Norwegian Shirt is part of the CS95 clothing system. Since it is lightweight and durable, it is suitable to be used for rigorous activities in the outdoors. Besides, it has multiple thick layers to keep the soldiers warmer.
